Obituary of Irene Carey
Irene Carey 95, of Springville died Saturday October 27th at The Gardens in Tunkhannock. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Ray D. Carey.
She was born on January 28, 1923 in Springville Twp. daughter of the late JC Wademan and Susan Conrad Wademan.
Irene was preceded in death by her daughter Priscilla Carey and Sister Dee Wademan.
She is survived by her sons Robert and wife Claire, of West Windsor, NJ, David and wife Leigh, of Towanda, daughter Phyllis and husband Frank Leslie, of Tunkhannock, Sister Naomi Himko, and six grandchildren, Nathan Carey, Ryan Carey, Joel Leslie, Jessica Leslie, Natasha Carey, and Olivia Carey.
She enjoyed flower gardening, watching the birds at her bird feeder, knitting, crocheting, making items from plastic canvas and reading. Irene and her husband liked to travel and spent time in Florida after his retirement.
She was a member of the Springville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Family and friends are invited to attend Irene’s funeral service which will be held on Tuesday October 30th at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Gary Myers. Interment will follow in Lynn Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at The Gardens for the care they gave Irene while there.
