Obituary of Dolores A. Sorbelli

Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dolores Ann (Karasinski) Sorbelli, Tunkhannock, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday November 8, 2014. Born in Pringle she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Kislow) Karasinski. She attended St Hedwig's Polish School and Kingston Area High school. Dolores was a resident of Tunkhannock for the past 40 years, previously residing on a farm on Max Avenue on Plymouth Flats. Her work history was mostly in the restaurant industry, employed for 10 years at Aldino's Manor Italian Restaurant, the Club House at Pocono Downs Race Track, Wilkes-Barre, the Airport Diner, and she recently retired from the Wyoming County Senior Center as a senior aide. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She possessed a pleasant and welcoming nature, and always had a warm smile. She enjoyed crafting and painting, and for years she and her husband operated Clothspin Dolls by Dee, showing at fairs and craft shows in Wyoming, Luzerne, and Montour counties. Dolores was a member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge #1276, a Lifetime member of the Tunkhannock Junior Woman's Club, an active member of the Wyoming Country Senior Center and Red Hat Grannies, and the Abington Senior Center. She was a certified volunteer in the Senior Peer Counseling program for the Wyoming County Area Agency on Aging. She also had volunteered for the Wyoming County Red Cross, the Wyoming County Food Pantry, the Wyoming County CEO, the Triton Hose Company Carnival, peeling potatoes for the potato pancake tent and also helped at the Bingo games. Dolores was an avid reader especially on her Kindle Fire. She loved organizing lunch and dinner outings for her friends to The Elk Lake School Touch of Class, and other eateries. She was always busy going on bus trips (most recently a Mystery Tour to the Finger Lakes) and to shows at the Music Box Dinner Theater or the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in NJ. She was a regular at the card games with her many friends at the Susquehanna Apartments and the Senior center, and especially enjoyed having dinner and a glass of wine on Friday nights at the Moose with her friend Ruthie. She was preceded in death by son Christopher, her husband Edward Sorbelli, the love of her life, and her sister Josephine Boback. She is survived by her brother Joseph, Swoyersville, son David Evanosky and his fiancé Laura Booth, Deerfield Beach, Florida, daughter Diane Evanosky Lancaster, daughter Angela Sorbelli and her husband Joel Stong, Boyertown. Grandchildren: Jamie and her husband Chip Falcone, Peter, Zach and his fiancé Lisa Carlin, Jessie and her fiancé Ivan Usztics all of Deerfield Beach, Florida. 4 Great grandchildren: Alyssa, Colin, Steven, and Nathan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the Wyoming Valley and beyond. Also her many grand puppies, especially her favorite grand pugs Rocco & Frankie. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday November 22nd at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St Tunkhannock, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 until the time of the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
