Evelyn Marie Lawler of Tunkhannock passed away peacefully April 27th with family surrounding her. Born on November 15, 1928 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Leona Oakes Saar. Evelyn was a member of the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock and prior to her retirement, worked for the Bendix Corporation in South Montrose and later worked for many years at Gays True Value in the paint department. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was a loving and caring wife and mother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years the late Joseph J. Lawler. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph G. and Linda Lawler of Tunkhannock, David and Bernadette Lawler of Harvey’s Lake; grandchildren Jennie and husband John Stonier of Tunkhannock, Michelle and husband James Hayes of Ladson SC, Jessica Hubbard and fiancée William Huhn of Tunkhannock, Jolynn Lawler of Blakely, Michael Lawler and Taylor Lawler both of Harvey’s Lake; great-grandchildren Erin and Grace Hayes of Ladson SC , Sierra and John Stonier and Madison Hubbard all of Tunkhannock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday May 4th from the Nativity of the BVM Church, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening, May 3rd from 4-6 pm.
