Duane “Ace” Matylewicz, 60 of Lake Winola passed away July 7th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore; he battled liver cancer. He is survived by his wife of 31 Years Donna Montross Matylewicz. He was born in Scranton on September 15, 1954 son of the late Leonard and Evelyn Herron Matylewicz. Duane graduated in 1972 from Tunkhannock Area High School. He was employed for 20 plus years with American Asphalt as a heavy equipment operator and other companies including Milo. He also drove truck for other companies. Duane was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors and enjoyed winter hunting trips to Princeton, Maine for white tail deer. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and NRA. Duane had a great love for his close knit family, friends, God and country; especially his wife Donna and sons DJ and Daren who were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his brother Vincent Matylewicz. He is survived by his sons Duane Jr. “DJ”, and Daren of Lake Winola, brother Frances Matylewicz, of Lake Winola, sisters Elizabeth Andron, of Lafayette, CA, Jane Slocum, of Lake Winola, and Dinah Kintner, of Mehoopany. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Lake Winola. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass, Arrangements by Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA.
