May your happy memories help your family through this time of sadness. In her time as Librarian at THS she encouraged many students to read not just for school assignments but also to broaden their knowledge of the world. She has touched many, many lives in our area.

Know the family can celebrate Hazelle's life with great memories of her family and community contributions. Foster and Hazelle were important classmates and friends to my father and mother as stalwarts of the Mehoopany Community. Many memories of Mrs. Brooks, the librarian, when I was a student at THS. Especially sad to see the end of an era when community strength was in the compassion and honesty of its members. Hazelle and Foster Brooks were truly icons long before Microsoft and Apple. My condolences to Mrs. Brooks' family. I was a classmate of daughter Marty all through high school at THS. I recall both Mrs. Brooks and Marty vividly, and can remember Millie too, as she was in my brother's class. I recall the lovely and frequent smiles of Mrs. Brooks and felt how much she loves us children. Marty was such a bundle of energy and fun too. Such a wonderful family.

I will always remember Hazelle as a caring and kind person; first as my high school librarian, then mother-in-law, then grandmother to my children and finally as an extra special friend. She often spoke of my mother's (Johnnie Decker) great faith in God. I am sure the two of them are now renewing their friendship in heaven.

Hazelle was a wonderful,Godly women who was a great friend/mentor/teacher to so many, young and old alike. She and Foster were so instrumental in preserving the history of Mehoopany and surrounding areas through photographs and story-telling. I along with my brother and sisters were blessed to grow up in Mehoopany with Millie, Allen, and Martha and be cared for and wonderfully influenced by such a grand lady.

She was one of the few people in my life that actually made learning interesting for me. My tenth grade home room was the physics room. Every day I would complete the question of the day as written on the board. I would not have taken physics on a dare. She guided me to books that helped work out the answers. God Bless

Sorry for your loss. I remember Mrs. Brooks as the school librarian and she ran a quiet place there. I recall being "shhhh'd" quite a few times over the years:-) Whenever I'm in a library with chatty children I think of her.

Thoughts and memories are racing through my mind as I prepare for my 50th class reunion from THS. Mrs. Brooks was a huge part of our years at THS as the Librarian when you actually had a library of reference books and encyclopedias from which we did research for homework assignments. Time has flown and our lives were surely blessed to have known such a great woman.

We were privileged to know Foster and Hazelle as neighbors, fellow church members, and then Mrs. Brooks as the school librarian. She ran a tight ship and kept students in line, which I admired even then. She also gave much time and effort to the historical society, helping to make it into the fine organization it is now. Our family appreciates her life and sends the Brooks family our deepest condolences. May the fond memories help in the days and weeks ahead.
