Up until I moved to Illinois three years ago, I served as a deacon at Berean Baptist Fellowship -- where Bill Russell was last able to attend church regularly. I defy any one to remember a Sunday when Bill attended church without a word of encouragement or loving exhortation from the Lord. He was simply full of the Holy Spirit. When visiting Bill out in Nicholson or up in Tunkhannock, he was full of praise to God for the forgiveness of his sins through Jesus Christ. "Always make music for the King of kings!" he would instruct me. I cannot think of many men who treasured God's Word as dearly as Bill. I will never forget Bill telling me, "Never run ahead of God . . . and don't you lag behind Him either!" With Bill in mind, I just read Psalm 116. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the welcome of Bill Russell to heaven.
