Obituary of Alice Denison

Alice J. Denison 89, of Forkston Twp., died December 31st at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frederic Denison. Alice was born on January 30, 1926 daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Fassett Lewis. She worked for the Dept. of Public Service for 25 years and retired as Intake Supervisor. She was very active in her community and church serving on the Board of Directors for the Forkston Cemetery Association, past Board member of the Mehoopany Area Library, a Lay Chaplain at Tyler Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Forkston United Methodist Church, Forkston United Methodist Women, and the Forkston Grange. She loved to travel visiting all 50 States; she enjoyed watching the wild life in her back yard, growing African violets, and all types of spring and summer flowers. Alice was an avid hunter from the age of 12 until her last 7 point buck at the age of 75. She enjoyed watching sports on television and in person. Most of all she loved her friends and family and will be deeply missed by all. She was preceded in death by brothers Perle Lewis, Rodney “Bud” Lewis, and Earl “Red” Lewis Sr., and her sister, Joan Lewis Severcool Durland. She is survived by her daughters Monica Denison of Forkston, Susan and husband Chris Montross, of Tunkhannock, son Lewis and wife Leanora Denison, of Forkston. Grandchildren Shane Montross, Celeste and Jason Denison, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 9th at 11:00 AM from the Forkston United Methodist church with interment in the Forkston Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
