Obituary of Stanley W. Bukata

Life Legacy Stanley W. Bukata, 85, of Lake Winola, died Wednesday night at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was married for 32 years to the former Suzanne Stengel until her passing, November 5, 1992. Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on September 29, 1930, he was the son of the late William and Ann (nee Bulka) Bukata. Stan achieved a Master of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire financed by many long hours as a short order cook and a Doctoral degree of Philosophy from the University of Buffalo working as a professor’s assistant. He lived the majority of his adult life in Buffalo, NY where he was employed by the Pennwalt, Lucidol Corp. as an Analytical Manager for over 30 years. His love and advocacy for education continued in his part time employment as a chemistry professor at Damien College, Buffalo NY and the Keystone College Weekender program. He retired to Lake Winola, PA in 1988. Stanley leaves us his kindness and gentle nature. He was a wonderful neighbor who truly cared for those in his community. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder for the Buffalo Sabres for many years. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with “the boys” for golf outings and to the casinos, playing bridge, watching mystery and gameshow programs, and going out to dinner with friends for a good New York strip steak. His love for learning continued up until the time of his passing through online lectures, tutoring, and the promotion for the merit of education. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Ruth Rudisail and husband Patrick, Lake Winola, grandsons, Dylan, Lake Winola and Shaun, Jacksonville, FL, nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog Rocco. The Family wishes to thank the exceptional care of two of Regional’s nurses, Gina and Denise. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 2 pm from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St Tunkhannock, PA. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola.
