Obituary of Hiram R. Stevens

Please share a memory of Hiram to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hiram R. Stevens, 74, of Jenningsville, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Martin Stevens. He was born on January 20, 1942. Hiram was the son of Evelyn R. Stevens, of Jenningsville and the late Richard B. Stevens, grandson of the late Hiram and Bessie Stevens, all of Jenningsville. He attended Tunkhannock Area High School and retired from the family dairy farm in 1995, then later retired from Kane Warehouse. He loved farming, fixing tractors, was an avid collector of this, that, and junk, and above all else, loved his family. Hiram was a devoted Yankees fan and influenced many others to support such an amazing team. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Hiram’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the pride of his life. There is nothing Hiram liked better than an interesting conversation with friends. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He willingly volunteered his time to the Jenningsville United Methodist church and was the past president of the FWM athletic association, where he spent many years coaching and being a mentor to many fine young people. We are now rejoicing knowing he is at peace with his late son, Hiram Thomas Stevens, and late daughter Wendy Lee Stevens. He is survived by daughters Brigitte Stevens Meskers and her husband, Steve Meskers and Christine Stevens Slacktish, all of Dallas; also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
