Life Legacy Franz D. “Frank” Scholz of Mehoopany died Sunday in the care of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was born in Norwood, MA on May 7, 1941 son of the late Frank and Evangeline Scholz. Frank was a 1958 graduate of North Attleboro High School Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Boston University, receiving his Masters and PhD in Journalism from Tufts University. After college, he was a journalist for Lowell Sun, Lowell MA, and Washington Post in Washington, DC., then for the Scranton Times-Tribune and the New Age Examiner. He was the owner of Scholz’s Orchard and Greenhouses in Mehoopany. He was a loving and devoted father and especially enjoyed working on the family farm in Mehoopany, PA. Preceding him in death was a brother John Scholz Sr. who died on April 25th, 2016. Surviving are his son Joseph Frank Scholz and daughter Samantha Evangeline Scholz, both of Montrose and sister Josephine (Ted) Lynn of Attleboro Falls, MA. At Frank’s request, there will be no viewing or memorial services. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the North East Autism Center, 1401 Mulberry, St. Scranton, Pa. 18510 or to Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen, 74 Warren St., Tunkhannock, Pa. 18657.
