Obituary of Gloria J. Rought

Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gloria Jean Schoonover Rought went to be with her Lord on June 29, 2016. Born in Kingston on January 11, 1940 she was the daughter of the late George and Edith Winters Schoonover. Gloria was a 1957 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and worked at Commonwealth Telephone Company in Dallas where she developed her love of the phone and spent many hours talking with family and friends at any hour of the day. She married Donald Rought on August 24, 1957 and spent the rest of her life raising her children and had a big part in raising her grandchildren. She had a colorful life full of fun and laughter. She spent her teenage years running around Centermoreland with her best friend Marie Albovich and many other friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Donnie and brother George and his wife OlaMae and with the high school band. Gloria loved family vacations with her children and grandchildren. Sunday dinners after church with the whole family were a weekly event with a campfire outside afterwards. She loved the Lord, making sure her children and grandchildren did as well. Singing in church was a must for Gloria’s grandkids. She enjoyed teaching them card games by her rules. She attended many athletic events such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and softball games as well as band and chorus concerts and festivals. Gloria was always the biggest fan. She rarely missed a party, even traveling to Allentown just for a birthday, but she was always late. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents George and Edith Schoonover, brothers Robert and his wife Roberta, George and his wife OlaMae, sisters Doris Kresge and Mildred Schray, son Timothy Rought and infant son Thomas Andrew, infant granddaughter Meggie, and nephew Danny Schoonover.
