Raymond J. Ayers Raymond “Red” J. Ayers of Centermoreland died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born April 28, 1934 in Noxen son of the late Earle and Mildred Foote Ayers. Red was a 1952 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and prior to his retirement was employed as a mill worker at Natona Mills in Dallas for over twenty-two years. He was a member of Temple Lodge #248 F & AM in Tunkhannock. He was an avid organic gardener and truly enjoyed the outdoors. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Ayers. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Kelly Ayers of Centermoreland, daughter and son-in-law Cyndi and Jim Laviska of Falls. A brother Dr. Earle Ayers and sisters Alice Steiner and Betty Carichner all of Tunkhannock. Grandchildren Daniel, Nathan, and Amelia Ayers and Geneva and Jared Laviska. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 8 pm from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W Tioga Street, Tunkhannock with Mr. John Steiner, nephew of Mr. Ayers, officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday at 6 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Endless Mountains Nature Center, PO Box 536, Tunkhannock, PA, 18657.
