Obituary of Robert G. Whitlock

Robert “Tug” Whitlock Sr. of Jenningsville died unexpectedly Tuesday December 20, 2011 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley. He was born in Exeter, Pa. on March 31, 1936 son of the late Lawrence and Irene Matthews Whitlock. Tug worked for his Uncle Russell (Huck) Whitlock in the family greenhouses before moving on to various construction jobs in Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He owned and operated Tug’s Tavern in Jenningsville from 1967 to 2000. He loved his outlaw music, old cars and trucks and his fleet of tractors that he was on nearly every day. He enjoyed family trips to Knoebel’s Park. Tug was preceded in death by brothers Mickey and Thomas Whitlock. Tug is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Rachel Reeves Whitlock, daughters Patricia Whitlock and Jeff Boice of Jenningsville, Sherry Barbacci of Tunkhannock, son Robert Whitlock Jr. and wife Janine of Jenningsville, grandchildren Kimberly Cragle, Tara Burgess, Angela Setters, Cole and Curt Barbacci, great grandchildren Chad Kitchnefsky, Kaitlyn Godshall, Hannah Burgess and Wyatt Setters. At Tug’s request there will be a private service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Society. Arrangements entrusted to Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.
