Francis M. Scranta, Jr. of Thurston Hollow Tunkhannock died at his home on Sunday December 11, 2011. He was born in Meshoppen on June 13, 1950 son of Evelyn Giberson Scranta of Tunkhannock and the late Francis M. Scranta Sr. He had been employed as an automobile mechanic for 45 years working for LL Richardson in Dallas and retiring from Scranta Auto Repair in Tunkhannock. He attended Tunkhannock High School and was an Army Veteran. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 39 years Peggy Crossmon Scranta; a son Francis M. and wife Betsey Scranta III of Tunkhannock; daughter Crystal and husband Philip Yeager of Tunkhannock; brothers Steve and Bernie Scranta of Tunkhannock; sisters Josie Sands and Carol Scranta both of Tunkhannock, and Agnes Harris of Dallas; grandchildren Austin and Brooke Yeager, Francis M. IV and Hunter Scranta; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 6 pm from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St, Tunkhannock with Pastor Brian Hill of the Eaton Baptist Church Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 pm until the time of the service.
