Obituary of Emily Shishlo

Emily Gibbons Shishlo of Fairview Rd Lake Winola died on Sunday at the home of her daughter Emily Ann Turriziani of Wilkes-Barre Twp.. She was born in Scranton on February 14, 1920 daughter of the late Michael and Bertha Warnero Gibbons. She was a graduate Scranton Central High School and the Powell School of Business. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a Sales Manager for Sears in the Viewmont Mall. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake, Lake Winola and its Altar and Rosary Society. Emily served as Secretary for the following organizations, The Lake Winola Friends and Sears Retires Club. A member of the Wyoming County Democratic Society, the Hillary Rodham Clinton Fan Club, Ladies Wednesday Supper Club and a volunteer for the Wyoming County Red Cross. She was very active in the Lake Winola Lioness Club in addition to serving as Club secretary she served as a member of District 14 H Hearing Program committee and on the District 14 H Lions Eye Bank committee and many other Lion and Lioness committees. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter A. Shishlo, sister Reginia (Jeanne) Baumgart, brother Kenneth Gibbons. Surviving is a daughter and son in law Emily Ann and Andrew Turriziani of Wilkes- Barre Twp. brothers, Donald Gibbons of Flager, Beach, Fla., sisters Shirley Thomas, Lancaster, Pa., Marilla Caterino of Scranton, Eileen Selvaggio of Oceanside, Ca. . granddaughters Christie Turriziani of Alexandria, Va., Amy Turriziani of Mountain Top, nephews Andrew Shishlo and wife Kimberly of Throop. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from St. Mary’s of the Lake, Lake Winola. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola. Friends may call at the Sheldon- Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc. on Monday from 6 to 8. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Winola Fire Co., St. Mary’s of the Lake, or to the Lake Winola Lions Club.
