Michael Joseph Vadella Jr. died peacefully on Thursday surrounded by his loving family in the Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. Mike was the oldest of six children born July 26, 1923 in Winton Lackawanna County. He was the son of Michael Joseph and Bertha Sershen Vadella. He was a graduate of Winton High School and attended Harrisburg University. He was a WW II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as a B17 bombardier. For over 40 years Mike was employed in the ice cream industry with Dunkirk Ice Cream, Louden Hill and Dolly Madison. He was the father of three children, Mike’s oldest daughter Sheryl and husband Louie of Webster NY; they have one daughter Michelle and are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren. His second daughter Melissa and husband David Noakes of Nicholson have six children, Katie, Joshua, Mikaela, Lillian, Josiah, and Jacob. His son Michael and girlfriend Amy of Ocean City MD have three children, Abigail, Samantha, Collin. Surviving is Mike’s sister Jean Smith and husband Tracy of Henrietta NY and their two children David and Linda; the daughters of his brother Joe, Joann Murray and Cindy Campbell, and a sister-in-law Marie Vadella wife of deceased brother Bob. Mike was also preceded in death by his first wife Pauline, Sheryl’s mother, who passed away in 1969. Also surviving is Mike’s second wife Natalie Vadella of Pittston, mother of Melissa and Michael and his last wife Joan Vadella of Savannah GA. After living a full and robust life Mike still provides comfort to a grieving family through the endless and unconditional love he showered on them throughout his life. He was very proud to be called father, grandfather, great-grand father, uncle and friend. At his request there will be no funeral services.
