Alice E. Wilbur of Jenningsville passed away at her home Monday evening December 22. She was born in Duryea on January 27, 1923 daughter of the late John and Stella Sobeski Pawloski.
She was a 1941 graduate of Duryea High School and after graduating from the Father Bakerâs School of Nursing in Lackawanna New York in 1943 was employed by local area physicians and later Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was an active member of St Anthonyâs church in Stowell, a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Duryea, and a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert C. Wilbur and son Thomas Wilbur on May 2, 1965, brothers Jack and Joe Pawloski, and a sister Joan Baldwin.
Surviving are sons Michael of Sanford NC, Barry of San Antonio TX, John of Atlantic Highland NJ, Albert of Scranton, Joseph of Bothell WA, Robert of Texas, James of Jenningsville. Daughters Joanie Webster of Chino Hills CA, Barbara Lawrence of St Johns PA, Susan Serfoss of Horseheads NY, Alice Moss of Jenningsville, Mary Ellen Bills of Montgomeryville PA, Kathy Paranac of Maxwelton West VA. 22 grand children and 25 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 am in St Anthonyâs Catholic Church Stowell. Interment will be in St Anthonyâs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Anthonyâs Church.
