Mary D. Lavelle of Thurston Hollow, Tunkhannock died Sunday evening in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Boston, MA on December 8, 1930 daughter of the late William H. and Mary T. McNeil McNulty. She had been employed as a personal care assistant in Greenly’s Rest Home in Thurston Hollow. Mary was a member of the Church of the Nativity BVM Tunkhannock, Falls Senior Citizens Center, Dallas American Legion Auxiliary and the AARP. She is survived by her husband of 57 years James E. Lavelle, son and daughter-in-law James E. and Lorrayne Lavelle, Jr. of West Pittston, daughter Veronica Lavelle of Pittston, and brother William McNulty of Boston, MA. Grandchildren Tiana Lavelle and James E. Lavelle III. She was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Jestings Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at the Church of the Nativity BVM Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery Carverton. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
