Obituary of Ruth M. Markunas

Ruth M. Markunas of Maple Lane, Tunkhannock, passed away Monday August 23, 2010 at Mercy Hospice, Scranton. She was born in Carbondale on March 14, 1926 daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Oblashny Rowland. She was a member of the Church of Nativity BVM, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the church choir. Prior to her retirement she was employed at Bocar Manufacturing until it closed. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley B. Markunas, brothers Patrick Rowland and Eugene Rowland and sister Marion Rowland. She is survived by her sons Stanley Markunas of Tunkhannock, Richard and wife Marianne Markunas of Clarks Summit, daughter Debbie and husband Frank Domasiewicz of Meshoppen, brother Donald and wife Lillian Rowland of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren Christopher and Robynn Markunas of Tempe, AZ and Brenna and Josh Gesford of York, PA; and great-grandson Chase Markunas of Tempe, AZ. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10 am from the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Forest City.
