Martin VanSovitch of Stark Road Tunkhannock died March 9th in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Emergency Room. He was born in Olyphant on October 31, 1938 son of the late Louise Beston Baranski and Step son of Frank Baranski. Martin was a Navy Veteran and a graduate of the Culinary School of New York. Prior to moving back to Tunkhannock and opening Marty’s Country Place, he worked at several New York Restaurants as Executive Chef including the Club House at Yonkers Race Track and for the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock on Monday, March 16th at 10 am in Tunkhannock. Interment of Cremated remains will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Arrangements by, the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.
