Obituary of Bette Lynn Gardner

Bette Lynn Gardner of Tunkhannock, died on Tuesday in the Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock. She was born in Kingston on July 2, 1943, daughter of the late Mildred Krise Kern. and the late Traugett Kern. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bruce Gardner. She was employed as a Social Worker at St. Michael's School prior to her retirement. Bette was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, the Chancel Choir, and a 20 year member of the Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association serving as an EMT and board secretary. She was also an EMT and CPR instructor for the American Red Cross and EMS. She had served on the Tunkhannock Borough Council as a member for 18 years. Surviving are three sons: David Gardner and wife Elaine of Manchester, NH, Stephen Gardner of Tunkhannock, PA., Paul Gardner and wife Tammy of Courtdale, PA, one daughter: Terri Velez and husband Kenneth of Colorado Springs, CO, and one sister: Heidi May King of Cheyenne, WY, eight grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm from the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church with Lay Pastor Ernie King. Interment will be in Overfield Cemetery Meshoppen, PA. Friends may call at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W Tioga St., Tunkhannock on Friday from 5 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The American Heart Association, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or the American Cancer Society, 57 Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
