Gloria D. Russell Gloria Dominick Russell of Jenningsville died Friday, November 6, 2009 at the home of her daughter and son in law in Jenningsville after a long and courageous battle with Essential Tremor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clair H. Russell. She was born in Plains on September 22, 1927, the daughter of the late Samuel and Jennie Pattison Dominick. of Plains. She was raised in White Haven where her parents owned and operated the Pine Grove Inn. Gloria and Clair resided in Tunkhannock for over 25 years where they raised four children. Upon retirement to Florida they traveled extensively, later returning to Jenningsville to be closer to their children. Gloria will most be remembered for her artistic talents in quilting, knitting, needlepoint, and cross-stitch. She loved reading and traveling and she was an avid sports enthusiast. She had a quiet strength and a loving manner and she loved to laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who new her. She was also preceded in death sisters Tina Bernardi and Babe Bernardi; Brothers Cornell, Edward and William Dominick and granddaughter Allyson Abshire. Surviving are daughters Judith Abshire of Houston, Texas, Jane and her husband Rick Mowry of Jenningsville, sons Clair and his wife Barbara Russell of Scranton; Stewart Russell and Laura Weiss of Lovelton. Grandchildren, Judy’s daughter Monica, and her husband Tracy and their daughters Danielle and Shelby Colson, great granddaughters, all of Houston, Texas. Jane’s daughter Nicole and her husband Edward and their sons Noah and Kaleb Gruver, great grandsons, all of Jenningsville. Jane’s daughter Jacqueline Mowry also of Jenningsville. Clair’s son Jeffrey and his wife Katie Russell of Toronto, Stewart’s sons Kurtis, Panama City, Fla; Travis, Potsdam, NY and Tyler of Lake Carey. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with Rev. Jean Swett, Pastor of the Jenningsville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of services.
