James Charles Simmons James Charles Simmons, 57, Springville died on Friday, July 24 2009, in the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville due to complications from a liver transplant last year. He was born in Waterville, ME on March 28, 1952, son of the late Stacy and Alice (Wentworth) Simmons. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Prior to his illness, Jim worked as a chef and banquet manager at Shadowbrook Resort in Tunkhannock, and later as a technician with Procter & Gamble in Mehoopany. He enjoyed riding the country roads on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, cooking for family and friends and mowing the lawn. Jim was an easy-going gentle man who had a wonderful sense of humor He is survived by a son: Eric Lars Simmons of Sterling, VA, one daughter: Stacey LaDawn Simmons of Scranton, a granddaughter, Rhianna Simmons, his devoted friend, Bambi Ilku, of Springville; and several cousins in Maine. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pastor Charles Bishop officiating.
