Rev. Anthony R. Ogden, of Tunkhannock, passed away at home on Monday.
He was born in Lowell Massachusetts, son of the late Richard H. and Muriel D. (Powers) Ogden. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1970 and attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst earning a B.S. in 1978. He attended Liberty University in Virginia receiving a Bachelor of Pastoral Studies in 1999 and he received a Masters in Ministry from the Baptist Bible College, Clark Summit, Pa. in 2005. He served an internship as Pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chicopee, Ma., and became Pastor of the Tunkhannock Baptist Church in 2000. He was also a substitute teacher for the Tunkhannock Area School District. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran (1970 â 1974) serving in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Deborah A. (Long) Ogden, daughters Shelley Ogden and Cristin Ogden both of Tunkhannock, and Mrs. Haley (Ogden) Killian of Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving is a sister Mrs. Peggy (Ogden) Lyons, and two brothers Francis and Daniel Ogden all of Lowell, Massachusetts.
Funeral service and viewing will be from the Tunkhannock Baptist Church located at the corner of Bridge and Church Sts in Tunkhannock,. Friends may call at the church from 2 â 4 and 6 â 8 on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 am with Pastor Bryan Hill and Pastor David Stuckey. Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Agawam Massachusetts following services at Pastor Ogdenâs home church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 603 New Ludlow Rd., Chicopee, MA on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Tunkhannock Baptist Church, Church St. Tunkhannock, Pa. 18657 or to the Wyoming County Cancer Society.
