Obituary of Dennis E. Sands

Dennis E. Sands of Tunkhannock, died Thursday October 9 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Meshoppen in May 1949 son of Gerald and Annabelle Lunger Sands. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1967 and from the University of Miami, Fl in 1971 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was a manager of many shoe stores in Pittsburgh and Mansfield, was a technician for Procter and Gamble for 22 years, and worked for Tyler Memorial Hospital for four years and later on as a volunteer. He was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church and Mansfield Jaycees; he coached Tunkhannock Squiget Football and was one of the founders, and also coached little league. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Cheryl Boyce Sands, his parents Gerald and Annabelle Sands of Tunkhannock; two sons, Sean and wife Patricia Sands of Odenton MD, Eric and wife Tracy Sands of Lebanon, PA.; three grandchildren Gabriela and Victoria Sands of Odenton MD and Laura Sands of Lebanon, PA. One sister Susan and her husband William Stephens of Tunkhannock, PA; three nephews and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13th at 11 am at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock with Rev. Craig Gromer of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church and Rev. Doug Posegate of the Firwood United Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre officiating. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, Warren and Church Sts Tunkhannock, PA.
