Richard L. Kelly, 80, of Tunkhannock died Thursday, November 4th at Mercy Tyler Hospital in Tunkhannock. Born March 14, 1930 he was a son of the late Leon and Margaret Wyrough Kelly of Beaver Falls, PA. Richard graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1948 and enrolled in the ROTC program at Penn State University. After graduation he served as a Public Relations Officer at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Following his military service, he attended Georgetown University Law School. Upon graduation he joined Pennsylvania Neighborhood Legal Services, providing free legal counsel to the needy. He later worked as Counsel for Pennsylvania’s Liquor Control Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William, Robert, and twin Jack. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Schweinsberg Kelly; children: Michael and wife Shellie Kegerreis Kelly of Tunkhannock, Barbara and husband John Haller of Pittsburgh, and Stephen and wife Amanda Sparks Kelly of Chicago, grandchildren Hannah, Samuel, Erin, Caitlin and Jessica, sisters: Patricia Kelly-Zaehler of Ft Meyers Florida, and Genevieve Schaefer of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, November 8 from the Church of the Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock. Arrangements by Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to either the Tunkhannock United Methodist Homes or Mercy Tyler Hospital of the Church of The Nativity B.V.M. .
