Robert Lee Hayward Sr. of Clarks Summit went home to be with the lord surrounded by his loving family Wednesday at the Community Medical Center in Scranton. Born in Towanda on June 18, 1943 he was a son of the late Wesley and Gladys Nichols Hayward. Robert retired from Claverack Electric Company as Tunkhannock District Supervisor after 35 years and was a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, Franklin Lodge 263, Rome Order of Eastern Star, former Mayor of Meshoppen, a social member of the Meshoppen Fire Company and a member of the Meshoppen Men’s Club. He was a loving husband, father, and was very devoted to his grandchildren. Robert enjoyed golfing. He was preceded in death by his brother Floyd. Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years Grace Rowe Hayward; sons Robert Jr and wife Angela of Springville, Scott and wife Samantha of Meshoppen and daughter Lisa and husband David Howell of Centermoreland, 8 grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock with Pastor Thomas Mott officiating. Interment will be in the Rome Cemetery, Rome, PA. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, RR 4 Box 4021, Meshoppen, PA 18630.
