Ann Marie Wiernusz Stroka, 89, of Sugar Hollow, Tunkhannock passed away early Wednesday morning at Tyler Memorial Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Rokosz) Wiernusz and was the devoted wife of the late George S. Stroka. Ann worked for many years as a zipper setter at Bocar Manufacturing in Tunkhannock. In her youth, Ann and her sister Mary spent time working at a war manufacturing factory in Connecticut during WW II. She was a member of the Nativity BVM Church, the Nativity Altar and Rosary Society and the Rosary Makers of America. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Stroka on October 12, 1998, brothers Edmund, Leonard and Chester Wiernusz and sister Mary Chellis. Surviving are her sons Daniel and his wife Joan Stroka of Dalton and Gerald and his wife Mary Stroka of Tunkhannock and daughter Marianne and her husband Edward Ostrowsky of Back Mountain; brother Michael and wife Jane Wiernusz of Tunkhannock, sister Ceil and Husband John Kobylski of Tunkhannock, and sisters-in-law Julia Wiernusz,Irene Wiernusz and Marion Stroka all of Tunkhannock; grandchildren Daniel and wife Sabrina Stroka of Forest Hill MD, Laurie and husband Allan Kennedy of Summit, NJ, Katrina and husband Jarod Buck of Harrisburg, Rebecca and husband Walter Kelly of Kingston, Chelsey and husband Christopher Zwicker of Arnold MD, Brian and wife Eva Ostrowsky of Berkeley Heights NJ, Jennifer and husband Jason Cobb of Maynard, Mass, Thomas and wife Kim Stroka of Crafton, MD, Christine Stroka and fiancée Arthur Butler of Philadelphia, and Michael Stroka of Glenolden, as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W.Tioga St., Tunkhannok with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Saturday from the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock with Father Richard Polmounter presiding. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made n Ann’s name to The Church of the Nativity BVM, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657, the Alzheimer’s Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or to the Wyoming County Heart Association, RT 6, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
