Priscilla Carey of Springville died on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was born August 3, 1949 in Montrose, PA daughter of Irene Wademan Carey of Springville and the late Ray Carey. After graduating from Elk Lake High School, class of 1967, Priscilla began a long and far-reaching career in education where she touched many lives over the years. She first taught kindergarten at the Springville United Methodist Church and then went on to dedicate 34 years of service to the Elk Lake School District. There, she first served as an aide to students and later as librarian. Prior to retiring, Priscilla's final years were spent as the elementary school secretary where she continued spreading her love and kindness to everyone who entered the school. Priscilla loved working with the teachers and students and always offered an unconditional smile and a helping hand. Priscilla also enjoyed tending her flower beds at home and making crafts for all occasions. She loved getting ready for Fall craft shows and often made crafts to give to friends and family on special occasions or holidays. Everyone who knew Priscilla loved how she decorated both her home and school office for every holiday, especially Christmas. Priscilla had many nieces and nephews who gave her great joy. She loved spending time with them and delighted in cooking for family get-togethers. She was an active member of the Springville Baptist Church and the Springville Women’s Club. Priscilla was one who lifted the spirits of whomever she came in contact, even during her final days here on earth.
