James E. Lavelle Sr. of Tunkhannock died Sunday February 28, 2017 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Kingston on August 11, 1930. He was the son of the late Ted and Myrdal Wickizer Lavelle. Serving over 20 years in the navy he was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He owned Chiefs Bar in Dallas for over 10 years, and spent 17 years working in the Tunkhannock Post Office. He was also the Boston Red Socks #1 fan. Preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Lavelle, and Great Granddaughter Arianna Lavelle Surviving is son; James Jr. and Lorrayne of Dallas. Daughter; Veronica Lavelle of Tunkhannock. Grandchildren; Tiana and partner Jason Lawton, and James III and Celina Lavelle both of West Pittston. Great Grandson; James Lavelle IV of West Pittston. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 4, 2017 at 10AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA. With interment and Military Honors at Memorial Shrine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
