Obituary of Rita B. McMillan

Rita B. McMillan, Washington Square Apartments in Wilkes-Barre, recently a resident of the Gardens Personal Care Home, Tunkhannock passed away peacefully with family members at her side on October 7, 2017.

Rita is survived by Daughter Marleen Butler and Son-In-Law Peter; Sister Loretta; Granddaughters Shawna Vargas, Attleboro, MA and Allison Zamerowski, Wikes-Barre, PA and their families. She was preceded in death by husband Franklin; sisters, Jean, Carole, Barbara and Gloria; and brothers, Raymond, Thomas and Stanley; her parents Stanley and Anna Soboleski and Step Mother Alfreda Soboleski.

Rita was born in LeRaysville and grew up in Virginia Beach where she graduated from high school and business school.  She also lived and worked in Elizabeth, NJ and eventually settled in N.E. PA where she raised her daughter and worked at the RCA Plant in Mountain Top and Leslley Fay in Wilkes-Barre.

Rita was a devoted Catholic and most recently a member of St. Nicks Parish in Wilkes- Barre. She was active as a Democratic Party Committee Woman in Wilkes-Barre for many years and also the Wyoming Valley Chapter of Pennsylvanians for Human Life. Rita loved relaxing at Lake Carey with family and friends. She especially enjoyed seeing her great grandchildren and the family pets who always brightened her day.

A Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock on Saturday October 14th at 11:00 AM.  A gathering will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Arrangements by Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA.
