He worked for Allied Bendix Co. in South Montrose for a time and for Diamond Manufacturing in West Wyoming were he retired in 2000.

Donnie was an active member of the Centermoreland United Methodist Church acting as head of trustees for many years. He also enjoyed helping with his son’s Boy Scout troop in his early years.

Once retired, Donnie and his wife enjoyed traveling with his brother in law George Schoonover and his wife Ola Mae whom he is now reunited with. He enjoyed trips to Lancaster with his grandchildren and to Buffalo to visit family. Donnie’s favorite place was at home enjoying cookouts and get together gatherings with family and friends, too numerous to mention.

Donnie’s favorite times were with his wife of almost 59 years the love of his life, Gloria Schoonover Rought, who passed away on June 29, 2016.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Rought, son Timothy Rought, infant son Tommy Andrew and infant granddaughter Meggie Rought.

Surviving is his brother William and wife Helen Rought, sister Gail and husband Floyd Quick, sister-in-law Harriet Rought; son David and wife Tammy Rought, daughter Donna Westfield, daughter Nancy Jones and husband Doug, his son Ken Baker and wife Sandra, and his daughter-in-law Cindy Rought.  Popie will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Tommy, Janelle, and Justine Rought, Erik, Mark, Levi, Noah and Emalyn Westfield, Seth, Paige, Faith and Hope Jones, Connor, Ashley and John Baker, Katelyn Mandigo, Clair Colwell and great grandson Landon Rought.  Donnie would always find time to brag about his grandchildren, even to his nurses during his last hospital stay.  Being “Popie” was very important to him.  He is also leaving behind his faithful companion, his loyal dog, Corky.
