Joan Jurista
Joan Jurista of Tunkhannock died Monday in Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was born in Falls River, MA. On April 22, 1926 daughter of the late George and Margaret Barrett Brabant.
Joan and her late husband Joseph Jurista were former owners of Ace-Jurista Farm Equipment Inc., Prior to her retirement she worked as a registrar nurse at several hospitals including Tyler Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Wyoming Co. Heart Assoc., Mental Health Assoc., Tyler Memorial Hospital Ladies Aux. and the Tunkhannock BPW. She enjoyed helping at Interfaith Friends and cooking for meals on Wheels in Wyoming County.
Surviving is a son Michael of Tunkhannock, daughters Eileen (Sam) Casterline, Tunkhannock, Meg Dobrosielski, Dimock, Kathy Price, Clarks-Summit., grandsons David and Daniel Antosh.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 11 am from the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Family will receive friends at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock from 6 to 8 on Wednesday evening.
