Obituary of Vivian P. Mills

Vivian (Poyant) Mills passed away peacefully, in the mid-morning, on Tuesday, March 13th surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Rhea Surprenant Poyant, and the late Alphonse Poyant in 1928.

She was a graduate of Holy Family High School in New Bedford & attended business school in Boston, MA for two (2) years.

Vivian married Donald T. Mills, originally from Plainfield, NJ, her husband of 67 years, in 1952, @ St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford.

Five years later, Donald and Vivian moved to Pittstown, NJ, where they raised their family of five (5) children. In 1976 they moved to Lake Worth, FL, and Vivian worked for several law firms in Palm Beach.

In 1985 they built a log home in Nicholson, PA, and have lived there for almost 35 years. She worked for a law office in Scranton, PA until she retired.

She was the sister of Susan Poyant of New Bedford, and the late George Poyant, and surviving sister-in-law, Jeannette Poyant of Madison, NH, and wonderful loving mother to her five (5) surviving children: Donna Mills Gold of Nicholson, PA; Jeffrey D. Mills & his wife, Donna L. Mills of Stroudsburg, PA; Shelley Mills Farley & her husband, Jeffrey Farley of Washington, NJ; Daniel G. Mills of Nicholson, PA; & Timothy H. Mills & his wife, Donna M. Mills of Easton, PA. Her six (6) grandchildren are: Lara M. Gold, David A. Gold, Aric N. Mills, April Stanley, Willard Farley, and the late Brandon Mills. Her three (3) great-grandchildren are: Mallory M. Gold; Jolene E. Gold; and Christian D. Gold. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sheldon Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA on Saturday, March 17th @ 2:00 pm.
