Obituary of Mary E Ostrowsky

Mary Elizabeth Bell Ostrowsky R.N. 84, died peacefully on April 2, 2018  at the home of her son Matthew Ostrowsky in Lewisburg, Pa. She died after a brief struggle with cancer. Mary “O” was the daughter of Herbert H. Bell and Winifred McAndrew Bell.

Mary “O” graduated from Meshoppen High School and Robert Packer School of Nursing. She was referred to as the singing nurse at Tyler Memorial Hospital for 47 years. She was a member of Nativity BVM Church, and a former choir member.

Family was Mary O’s passion. “Mamie” as she was known to her family attended hundreds of kid’s basketball, wrestling, football, softball, baseball, gymnastics, cheerleading, track, and soccer games, all without knowing a single thing about any sport. Mary “O’ was a proud American patriot and a stalwart member of our greatest generation.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Herbert and John Bell and her beloved son Kevin Ostrowsky. She is survived by her brother Christopher Bell, his wife Marilyn, brother Winfred Bell, his wife Penny, sister-in-law Olivia Bell, and her sister and absolute best friend Florence Trowbridge, her son Edward Ostrowsky and his wife Marianne, daughter Kathleen Bowman and her husband Jaimie,  son F. Matthew Ostrowsky and his wife Susan, and daughter-in-law, Tracy Ostrowsky.   Mamie had 10 grand kids and 5 great-grandchildren. She had the biggest, loving, caring family including aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and of course her many friends from all parts of the country.

A Mass of Christian Burial will Be held on Thursday April 5th  at 11:00 AM from the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock with interment in St. Boniventures Cemetery. A viewing for friends and family will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass.
