Eleanor Theresa Rezykowski

Eleanor Theresa Rezykowski, 90, of Falls passed away on Tuesday, April 24th in Hospice of the Scared Heart in Dunmore.  Born in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late Mathew and Veronica Tolubinski Albowicz.

Prior to her retirement, Eleanor was employed at Topps Chewing Gum for 28 years before the plant closed.  She also worked for 10 years for the Wyoming and Luzerne Counties Bureau of Aging as an alternate manager.  Eleanor worked as a volunteer for 8 years at the Falls Senior Center.  In addition she worked for her niece, Marie, traveling to various area fairs passing out samples for Nice Nuts.  Many also knew her from working the voting polls in Falls.

Eleanor was a people person, being active in her community, crocheting lap blankets to pass out to patients and making afghans and other items for her family.  She was active in her church and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society.  Eleanor loved to travel and going out to eat.  She was an active member of the Falls Lions Club.  She belonged to the Red Hat Divas and enjoyed the outings with her daughter.  Eleanor loved dancing and listening to the music when she could no longer dance.  She enjoyed playing cards, board games, doing crosswords and other puzzles.

Eleanor had a green thumb and knew what wild mushrooms were good to eat, and canned them for her family to enjoy at Christmas.  She was noted for the traditional Christmas Eve suppers that were always eaten at sundown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1986; sisters Sophia Albowicz and Marvina Magda; brothers Albert and John and son-in-law Tom Kelly (Pete).

Eleanor is survived by her sons David of Falls with whom she resided, John and wife Sally of Dripping Springs TX, Walter and wife Karen of Falls; daughters Eleanor Kelly of Falls and Mary Ann Furman and husband Roger of Montrose.  She leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  She was especially close and grateful for all that her grandchildren Tom Kelly and Jennifer Sibio did for her during her lifetime.
