Obituary of Margaret A. Everitt

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret “Marge” A. (Humenansky) Everitt died peacefully on June 21, 2018 in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania at the age of 74.

Marge was born in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania on June 5, 1944, to Stephen and Susan (Krakosky) Humenansky.   She graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School in 1962. From there, she worked as a secretary at Roberts Manufacturing and met her husband Dennis while there.  They were married on June 10, 1967 and later moved to Tunkhannock. During the life they shared, Marge worked many different jobs, most recently as a clerk and assistant store manager for Gertrude Hawk Chocolates in Dallas, PA.  She was a self-described “people person” and loved to help anyone select just the perfect treat or gift.  Her greatest and most important roles in life, however, were wife and mother.

Marge loved to make anyone smile and always loved to sit and chat.  She loved music and had great faith.  She showed this through her devotion to singing in the parish choir at Nativity BVM Church in Tunkhannock.  She considered singing to be a way of “praying twice.”  Her faith brought her much comfort over the past few months.

She loved nothing more than to spend time with her family.  Holidays and family vacations to Sandbridge Beach were when you saw her smile the most, reveling in the love of her husband, kids, and grandkids.  She always wanted to be present for her children, sitting in the stands cheering on the marching band during high school football games and later attending the grandchildren’s football games, musicals, and track meets.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather William Amos, and brother John “Jack” Humenansky.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dennis; her daughters, Fran Yekel and husband Brian, Wilkes-Barre; Denise Frantz and husband Kevin, Camp Hill; and Melissa Michlowski and husband Bill, Clarks Summit; her grandchildren, who were a source of pride and joy, Matthew Yekel, Wilkes-Barre, and Ellen and Ben Frantz, Camp Hill; sister Mary Ann Rodricks of Pooler, Georgia; and sister-in-law Joan Humenansky of Swoyersville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate her life Monday, from 5-7 p.m. at Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 99 Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at The Gardens at Tunkhannock and AseraCare Hospice for their kindness and compassion toward Marge and her family during this difficult time.
