Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret Collins Kintner, a lifetime resident of the Mehoopany and Tunkhannock area, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, PA on Monday, November 26, 2018.

Born in Stowell, PA on December 19, 1928 to Mary Cain Collins and Lewis J. Collins.   She was tremendously proud of her Irish heritage and took every opportunity to attend Irish festivities.  She was also a devote Catholic and actively supported church activities. She was a 1946 graduate of Mehoopany High School and went on to earn an honors degree at Scranton Business College.  As a young woman, she was employed in the office of Dr. John McCorkle in Mehoopany and the Ben Franklin Store in Dushore.

Margaret married the love of her life, William R. Kintner, on June 17, 1950 and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage.  They enjoyed traveling together and spent many winter months in Naples, Florida. After Bill’s death in September 2000, Margaret focused her attention on family and friends.  She was always available to help in any way she could.  She will be missed by many, but not forgotten.

Bill and Margaret owned and operated several well-known businesses in the Mehoopany area.  Their tireless hours devoted to the day-to-day operations of Kintner Milling Co., the Riverview Center in Mehoopany and Margie’s Choice Klassics in Meshoppen, gave them the opportunity to meet thousands of residents of this area and ultimately formed many lasting and cherished friendships.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Alice Jennings, Dolores Cullen and Helen Yonchiuk.  She is survived by her children and their families:  Diane (Bud) Spotts with daughters Amy (Lance) Clements and Mary Ann (Mark) Callahan; Bill (Laurie) Kintner with daughters Faith (Gus) Wellings, Heather Winters, Krista (Timmy) Truesdale and Azure (fiance Will Mooers);  Annette (Mike) Gravelle with children Tom Pickett, Megan (Jordan) Bogdonavage, Chelsea (Allan) Gao, Elizabeth Pickett, Charles Pickett and Logan Gravelle; Pam Lizza with daughters Natalie (James) Rail and Ariana Lizza.  She was also a great-grandmother to Brock Clements, Chloe and Ethan Callahan, Hazel Wellings, Kaitlyn Harvey, Hunter and Summer Winters, Collin and Kyler Truesdale, Presley Mooers, Maggie Gao, Avani Chartier, and Jackie Rail. In addition, her daily life was blessed with strong and loving relationships with her nieces and nephews.
