Obituary of James Schappert

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James J. Schappert, of Factoryville went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2018.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Richards Schappert.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late James and Sylvia Scouten Schappert.  He graduated from Lake Lehman High School and Wilkes-Barre Business School.  He worked as a Systems Programmer for PPL before retiring.  He was a member of Falls United Methodist Church.

Jim enjoyed the simple things in life like watching NASCAR, riding his Harley, or doing work on his John Deere tractor.  He found happiness in being outside working in the yard, mowing lawn, cutting trees, and watching any kind of wildlife. He had taken flying lessons and for several years liked being able to fly to different locations.  He had fun bowling for many years in a mixed league with his wife, and found delight in Sophia, his Standard Poodle, who always brought joy and laughter to him every day.  What was important to him was God, family, country, and true friends.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son James V. Schappert of Olyphant.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jim’s Celebration of Life Service which will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Falls United Methodist Church, 211 Buttermilk Road, Falls, PA 18615.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday.
