I was one year behind Rick at Mehoopany Elementary School. Moved away from Mehoopany many years ago but some memories remain vivid. When the Mehoopany 4th of July celebration was a really big deal, I fondly remember Rick and brother Hiram bringing their ponies to Dunlap's Grove and giving rides to the local children. He was a special guy and his passing is a great loss to the Jenningsville community. Another link to the former vibrant farming community of our youth has left us.

not sure if this is the same Richard (Ricky) as I knew him. there was a Richard that lived on the corner of the highway going to Laceyville from Jenningsville. I only knew him for a year or two as we attended the school in Jenningsville. then I went to Laceyville and Richard to Mehoopany. I wish the family well and know that the whole community is there to support the family. I will visit his interment site when we come thru PA this coming summer as I also have a brother there. GOD BLESS THE FAMILY

April, Lisa, Tammy, Richie, and the Stevens family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy in the passing of Rick. He was one of the best athletes in Tunkhannock history. The best memory I have of him was on Thanksgiving day when the Tigers were playing Clark Summit. It was Rick's senior year and he was out with a shoulder injury. He finally talked Coach Shaw in allowing him to play. I remember Rick running off the field and over to the high school ( where you went to the middle school.) He came running back on the field and the crowd gave him a standing ovation as he ran on to the field. Coach put him in for one play he caught a pass and ran it in for a touchdown. He was a great influence on me. I remember going to watch him wrestle and play baseball also. Your Mom was also a special person, as we were in the same class. I am sorry we are out of town and won't be able to make the services but our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Don and Barb Davis

So sorry to hear of Rick's passing. He was a wonderful friend from early childhood days at Mehoopany Elementary, Little League baseball, classmate at Tunkhannock HS where he was the best athlete in the class of '61. Rick and some friends took off on an adventurous Route 66 journey to California shortly after graduation. I'm sure it looked far different than now, where I've lived for the last 45 years. Rick was a humble, hard working, family first man who served his country and local Jenningsville community well.
May our Lord put His stamp of approval on a life well lived and bless his family with strength and guidance in his absence.
