Obituary of William D. Oliver

William D. Oliver, 85, of Lemon Township passed away June 14, 2020 at his home. Born in Meshoppen on August 10, 1934 he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Belle Grow Oliver. He was a 1952 graduate of Springville High School and a 1956 graduate of Penn States Agricultural Department. Willie served his country in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Penelec Electrical. Willie was a member of Nativity BVM Church, Moose Lodge, Tunkhannock, American Legion Post 510 a proud retired active member of Triton Hose Company, Tunkhannock. He is survived by nephew, Paul B. Shaffer III, West Pittston; nieces, Elizabeth Brown, Anchorage Alaska, Sherry Wintermute, Forkston, and Katherine Shaffer, Tunkhannock; sister-in-law, Joanne Shaffer, Tunkhannock; several cousins and good friend, Michael DiStadio, Tunkhannock. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Oliver in 1973. Family and friends are invited to attend Willie’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Friday June 19, 2020 at 10AM from the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E Tioga St, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 to be celebrated by Reverend Patrick Albert, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Meshoppen with full military honors. A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Due to the ongoing pandemic, restrictions have been put in place by the CDC and the PA Department of Health. Please read the following. At the funeral home: We will be limiting the number of guests to 40 people at a time. At Church: We will be limiting the number of guests to 50 people. Please use your discretion.
