It's going to be hard to picture this world without my Uncle's intense spirit in it. Both he and my Uncle Cece reminded me of characters out of a Charlie Daniels song. When it comes to Uncle Jerry I think of the song 'Caballo Diablo' the story of a Spanish Cowboy hell bent on taming a horse that's also half devil and killed every man that ever tested it. Once the cowboy mounts the horse it knows it met it's match because the cowboy is also half devil prompting the horse to jump over a cliff killing them both. Uncle Cece told me a story of how Jerry broke a similar horse that injured 2 neighbors of his after they purchased it. He purchased the horse and it became his favorite mare. It's a talent he inherited from his father Stanley Brown (Beck) of whom he was the spitting image.
One memory I have of both my Uncles is the winter of 1978. My Graddad Beck got me a corncob pipe for Christmas and I couldn't wait to go to PA and smoke it with him because I thought he was the coolest guy! Unbeknownst to me he was very sick and died before I got that chance. Like any 4 year old child that first learned what death was, I felt devastated. Word got to both my Uncles how upset I was about not being able to smoke with my Grandfather. After they finished their barn chores they each grabbed one of his many pipes and smoked with me to try and make up for my loss. It was the first time I got to see the tender underbelly of Uncle Jerry who could be a very hard man on the outside. It's a great memory I'll surely be replaying through my mind when my life flashes before me when it's my time to go.
2020 has been a brutal year for so many of us. It's a year that just took and took leaving us all depleted. At this time I'd like to give my love and condolences to my cousins Becky and Eric and their families. Losing a parent is one of the toughest things a person can endure. I only think it's fitting that he and Charlie Daniels died in the same year. It's my hope that these two cowboys are mounted up on huge white stallions exploring that Beulah land together!
Godspeed!

Our hearts and prayers go out to becky and her family for this time of sorrow. Dave was deeply hit hard when he heard. He was a happy guy that enjoyed his horses and machinery. Now he will rest and the angels will take care of him. Dave and Cheryl

My husband, Dale and wife, Debbie became acquainted with Jerry through our friendship with the Riker family. We are very deeply sorry to Becky and the entire family members. It is so devastating when a parent passes away. Jerry had a happy life that we had seen and he and his companion had some very wonderful times together which was so nice to see them! God give you all the strength you need for the days ahead. You are all in our prayers. We are certainly thinking of you all. Debbie and Dale Jennings
