Obituary of Leona Cook

Leona E. Cook of Tunkhannock, died January 1, 2021 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Donald L. Cook. Born in Noxen on August 10, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Sylvester (Jack) and Nina Blizzard Traver. Gone to be next to her loving husband Donald and son Leland James Cook. She worked at the Prince Hotel from 1965 to 1992 and established many friendships from there. When her eyes were better she loved to read and always felt like she was part of the story. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Lou Sutton and husband Bryce; son, Donnie Cook and wife Tina; siblings, Harry Traver and wife Dawn, Jack Traver and wife Linda, Jane Scott and husband Gene, Steve Traver and wife Dianne; grandchildren, Tommy and Randy Severcool, Justin Cook, Leanne Landsiedel and husband Eric, Donnie Cook and compainon Julie; great granddaughter, Lily; step-grandchildren, Denise DeGraw, Chris Sutton, Bonny Sutton, and Eddie Sutton. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Leland James Cook; baby sister, Nina Traver; sisters Ada Sheffler, Gypsey Hanadel; brothers Hiram Traver, Nettie Ladner; step grandson Johnny Gammons. Family and friends are invited to attend Leona’s funeral service which will be held on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Rick Womer of the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church presiding. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until the time of service
