Joseph Kitchnefsky, Jr., 76 of Tunkhannock passed away Thursday January 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Yvonne Parks Kitchnefsky. Born in Scranton on August 7, 1944 he was the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Irene L. Azarsky Kitchnefsky. Joe attended Tunkhannock High School, the Church of Nativity B.V.M, Tunkhannock and St. Mary’s of the Lake, Lake Winola. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing softball on many local softball teams. Joe especially enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing and bear hunting. He was a member of many local bowling teams and enjoyed his time spent bowling. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Jack, Kevin, and Shawn all of Tunkhannock; brothers, Charles, John, and Jerry all of Tunkhannock; sisters, Stella Marabelle, and Della Sands; four grandchildren; one great-grandson. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, James. Family and friends are invited to attend Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Monday January 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 99 E. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 to be celebrated by Reverend Patrick Albert. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Monday. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. A viewing will be held on Sunday January 17, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Family requests that all attending abide by current CDC guidelines. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Joe's name to Companionate Care Hospice, 1444 E Lackawanna Ave Suite 218, Olyphant, PA 18447.
