Obituary of Pastor Gerald W. Mattocks

Gerald W. Mattocks, Jr. of Tunkhannock went home to be with his Lord Sunday June 6, 2021 at Select Medical Hospital, Danville. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clara E. Squier Mattocks. Born on June 8, 1942 he was the son of the late Gerald, Sr. and Lucille Clark Mattocks. He graduated from Tunkhannock Area in 1960, served 4 years in the United States Marines, and was employed at Proctor & Gamble for 26 years. After retirement, he attended Practical Bible College, then began his career as a pastor. He served as pastor at Beaumont Union Gospel, Russell Hill UM, and filled in at several other local churches including Community Bible where he attended. He was also active with the Men for Missions group, which included mission trips to Spain, Ireland, and Ecuador. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, John Mattocks and wife Susan; daughter-in-law, Lisa Mattocks; brother, Gordon and wife Joyce; grandchildren, Luke, Emily, Benjamin, Caleb, Isaac Mattocks, and Marcus Hernandez; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David and infant son, Mark Samuel. Family and friends are invited to attend Jerry’s funeral service which will be held on Friday June 11, 2021 at 11AM from the Community Bible Church, 327 State Rte. 92 S, Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Prevost Cemetery, Tunkhannock. A viewing will be held on Thursday June 10, 2021 from 4-7PM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657
