Obituary of Ruth B. Bancala

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth B. Bancala, 74, of Falls went to be with her heavenly Father on August 18, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family after her strong six-year battle with a brain tumor. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Bolis Bancala. Born in York County, PA she was the daughter of the late Reverend Paul and Thressa Cluke Wonders. Ruthie was a strong woman of faith with a kind and tender heart to everyone she met. She was a faithful member of the Mill City Assembly of God Church where she loved singing and playing hymns on the piano for the congregation. Her and her husband, Bolis, were soulmates who worked side by side every day. It was not uncommon to drive by the family farm and see Ruthie putting a new roof on the barn or herding the cattle across the street. If her husband could do it, she could do it too and she was certainly there at his side the entire time. Ruthie was a compassionate mother to her daughter, Holly and a dedicated care giver to her daughter, Renee. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up instilling her strong Christian values and the importance of hard work into their life. She loved having Christmas Eve dinner at the farm with her family where they would all gather around the piano to sing Christmas carols and enjoy tables full of homemade cookies. Even though the last few years were hard for her and her family she still demonstrated how great God’s love is for everyone. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Holly Sickles and husband Gene and Renee Bancala; brothers, Alvin, Glenn, Kenneth, and Larry; sisters, Irene Kennedy, Edith Shollenberger, and Darlene Emlit; grandchildren, Victoria Church and husband Donald, Jr. and Keith Sickles; great grandchildren, Harmony, Annabelle, and Charles; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lavern, Lester, and Dean. Family and friends are invited to attend Ruthie’s funeral service which will be held on Saturday August 28, 2021 at 11:30 AM from the Mill City Assembly of God Church, 167 Mercy Lane Dalton, PA 18414 with Pastor James Rugg presiding. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Those of you who may wish to attend Ruthie’s service but are unable to can join the family online for a livestreamed service at 11:30 AM on Saturday August 28, at www.sheldonkukuchkafuneralhome.com under Ruthie’s tribute page. Arrangements and care entrusted to Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
