Geraldine E. Fassett, 92 of Mehoopany, PA passed away Wednesday May 25, 2022 at Wesley Village, Pittston, PA.
Born in Jenningsville, PA September 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Orrin E. and Evelyn Furman Phinney. She was the oldest of eleven children.
Geraldine was a member of the Jenningsville United Methodist Church and the Ladies VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed bowling and volunteered for many years with local Little League teams and FWM 4th of July Celebrations. She worked the Board of Elections for many years and was also known by many during her years of working the breakfast shift at the Mehoopany Dairy Bar. She was a loving, kind, and compassionate individual who enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Jack Simmers, Mehoopany, Dan (Sherry) Simmers, NH, Art (Maura) Simmers, Mohrsville, Janet (Andy) Voda, Laceyville, Judy (Tim) Rich, TN, Wilma (Doug) Gay, Tunkhannock, Norm Fassett, Scranton, Bill (Tina) Fassett, Tunkhannock; Thirteen Grandchildren; Fourteen Great Grandchildren; Seven Great Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Fred Phinney, Bill (Lynda) Phinney, Laceyville; Sisters, Grace Ann Iffert, Tunkhannock, Joyce Place, IN, Betty Charland, Laceyville, Donna Latini, Wyalusing, Janice (Dubois) Selbig, GA, Lois Phinney, Mehoopany.
Geraldine was predeceased by first husband, James A. Simmers (1959); second husband Joseph C. Fassett (1995); grandson, Joseph A. Fassett (1986); daughter-in-law, Beverly Simmers (2012); brother Orrin E. (Sonny) Phinney, Jr. (2014); sister, Helen Valentine (2017).
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Wesley Village for the care and compassion they extended to Geraldine and her family.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
