Obituary of Helen J. Keller

Helen J. Keller, 89, of Tunkhannock, PA, passed away on May 25, 2022 after a long illness at The Gardens of Tunkhannock, PA. Helen was born in Tunkhannock, PA to Guy B. and Mary A. Kester on March 20, 1933. She married Joseph W. Keller in 1955 and celebrated 54 years together. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Keller and her sister, Carol L. Bohnert. Helen attended Tunkhannock Area School and graduated in 1951. Following high school, she attended business school and worked at the Citizen’s Bank. Helen wore many “hats” during her life as a wife, mother, primary care giver to her parents and supporting her husband in his business endeavors. She enjoyed being a 4-H leader, teaching sewing for many years. She was a member of the Tunkhannock Women’s Club and the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. Many a Wednesday would find her with the Eatonville United Methodist ladies quilting. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was always up for a new adventure! Helen is survived by her children, daughter, Linda J. Keller and husband, Robert A. Markuson of North Port, Florida, son, David M. Keller, Tunkhannock, PA, son, Craig A. Keller and wife, Kelly, Tunkhannock, PA, daughter, Leslie A. Mulhern and husband, Michael, of Nicholson, PA; grandchildren, Joseph F. Keller, Anchorage Alaska, Samantha A. Hubert, Tunkhannock, PA and Jessica A. Melan, Tunkhannock, PA; great-grandchildren, Cash, Emma, Kiah and Zeblen. The family would like to thank the staff of The Gardens of Tunkhannock and Sacred Heart Hospice for the care our mother received. Family and friends are invited to attend Helen’s funeral service which will be held on Thursday June 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga Street Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. A viewing will be held on Wednesday June 1, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen, 51 Warren Street, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 or the Dietrich Theatre, 60 East Tioga Street Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
