Obituary of Janet Ella Lee

Janet Hillier Lee, 86, of Tunkhannock, passed away June 24, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.

Born November 11, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie Hillier of Pittsburgh.

Janet grew up in East McKeesport, PA and attended Grove City College, where she graduated with an associate's degree in business. After working as a secretary for US Steel and Pennsylvania State University in the Home Economics Department, Janet continued her career as the secretary for her husband's veterinary practice. The love of Janet's life was being a homemaker and mother of her five children.

Janet was a long-time member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church and loved to play in the hand-bell choir. She also enjoyed singing in the community choir for the library's Christmas show. After raising her family, Janet embraced a childhood dream and learned to tap dance.

Janet treasured her family, friends, and pets, and she was a gracious host to the stream of people who visited her house daily. Janet's warm and friendly personality endeared her to all and touched many lives.

Janet leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Dr. Bryan Lee, whom she met on a blind date at a square dance. They were blessed with five children: Jennie (Dave) Castrogiovanni of Montrose, Elizabeth (Robert) Swartz of Dunmore, John of Tunkhannock, Stephen (Lashelle) of Lock Haven, and Cynthia (Todd) Bosscher of Springville. In addition, Janet and Bryan were blessed with fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Janet also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Marilyn Stark, brother-in-law, Norman Weise, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Sally Weise, daughter-in-law, Elaine Lee and grandson, Nicholas Swartz.

Family and friends are invited to attend Janet's memorial service, which will be held on Saturday July 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, 4 Church Street Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Tenny Rupnick presiding.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
