Obituary of Roger C. Betts

Roger C. Betts, 77, of Tunkhannock, passed away on June 22nd at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 8, 1935, in New Brunswick, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter and Hazel Jacobs Betts. Roger was a graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, IL and a Navy veteran. He was a Procter and Gamble retiree as well as a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joan Janin Betts, sons: David of Tunkhannock, Gregory of Scranton, Stephen and wife Sandra of Clarks Summit, daughter Heather of Tunkhannock. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Betts, and his sister, Carolyn Johnston, both of Kennett Square, and two granddaughters, Melissa and Nina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 10:00 am, from The Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock with Father Richard Polmounter presiding. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery. A private viewing will be on Monday evening from 5 – 7 pm at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Roger’s name to the Church of the Nativity BVM, 99 E.
